VENTURA – The Cañada College women's soccer team took a weekend trip to Southern California but unfortunately came home with a pair of tough losses from the Ventura College New Balance Community College Showcase.
The Colts opened the tourney on Thursday with a 3-1 loss to Mt. San Jacinto College and closed the weekend narrow 1-0 setback against Long Beach City College.
Cañada actually got off to an early lead against Mt. San Jacinto, thanks to a goal by Lainee Lombana in the 14th minute. She headed in a corner kick from Camila Arellano to give the Colts a 1-0 advantage. But MSJC rallied to score the final three goals of the contest to take the win.
The Colts put up a solid defensive effort against Long Beach on Saturday but couldn't find the back of the net. Goalkeeper Elisabeth Bray had a save for the Colts in the slim loss.
Cañada, now 0-2-1 overall, is back in action on Friday (Sep. 5) when the Colts travel to Cosumnes River College for a 4 p.m. non-conference game.
