Colts get No. 5 seed, host second-round NorCal Playoff game on Saturday

The road to a state championship begins on Saturday for the Coast Conference champion Cañada College men's soccer team.
The Colts return to the postseason for the fourth straight season after they were named the No. 5 seed for the upcoming Northern California Regional Playoffs. As a top-8 seed, Cañada received an opening-round bye and will host No. 12 Feather River College in a second-round playoff game in Redwood City on Saturday (Nov. 22).

Cañada enters the postseason with a 11-2-6 overall record. Under head coach Erik Gaspar, the Colts finished as co-champions of the Coast Conference North Division with an 8-1-4 mark. It marked Gaspar's first Coast Conference title as head coach of the Colts.
The Colts will look to bounce back from a narrow 3-2 loss to Hartnell College in their regular-season finale. Prior to that contest, Cañada was riding a 14-game unbeaten streak.
No. 12 Feather River and No. 21 Foothill faced off on in an opening-round game on Wednesday with FRC winning that contest 6-0 to advance. Feather River Saturday's game with an 18-4-0 overall record and went 9-0-1 in the Golden Valley Conference capture the GVC title.
Three wins are needed by the Colts to advance to the 3C2A State Championships on Dec. 5 & 7 at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo. Cañada looks to make their second straight trip to the state championships after reaching the state semifinals last year.
