Skaggs' double-double leads Colts to win at Skyline
SAN BRUNO — The Cañada College men's basketball team used rebounding dominance and balanced scoring to secure a 61-52 Coast Conference North Division road victory over Skyline College in San Bruno on Friday night.
Cañada controlled much of the contest, building a 30-26 halftime lead before methodically extending its advantage in the second half. The Colts shot 42 percent from the field and outrebounded the Trojans by a 41-27 margin.
Forward Jake Skaggs delivered a standout performance, posting 18 points, 12 rebounds and five assists. His inside presence helped Cañada dominate the boards, a key factor in limiting Skyline's second-chance opportunities.
Shawn Acosta added 13 points, attacking the rim and converting in transition, while Darius Jackson chipped in 11 points and five rebounds. Mateo Jackson and Justin Moore each scored seven points, providing timely offensive support.
Cañada won its second straight to improve to 11-15 overall and 5-7 in the Coast North standings. The Colts are back in action on Wednesday (Feb. 18) when they host Ohlone College in their final home game of the season.
