Colts named No. 20 seed for Northern California Regional Playoffs
NORTHERN CALIFORNIA PLAYOFFS BRACKET
The Cañada College baseball team is back in the postseason for the third straight season.
On Sunday, Cañada received the No. 20 seed for the upcoming Northern California Regional Playoffs. The Colts will travel to No. 5 Sierra College in Rocklin for a best-of-three-game series that is scheduled to begin on Friday (May 2) at 2:00 p.m. Game 2 is set for Saturday (May 3) at 11 a.m. with a third game, if necessary, to start at 2 p.m.
Ticket prices for the 3C2A postseason event are $12 for general admission and $8 for all identified students, faculty, staff, senior citizens age 60 and over, and children under 12 years old.
The Colts recently secured a fourth-place finish in the final Coast Conference North Division standings with a 9-11 mark. Cañada, led by long-time head coach Tony Lucca, brings a 20-19 overall record into the postseason.
No. 5 Sierra enters the playoffs with a 26-13 overall record. The Wolverines finished second in the Big 8 Conference at 15-9. Cañada and Sierra will be facing off for the first time this season.
The winner of the opening series will advance to a three-team, double-elimination Super Regional on May 8-10. Winners of the Super Regionals meet in a three-game Regional Finals series on May 16-18 with a trip to the state championships on the line.
The 3C2A State Championships are scheduled for May 24-26 at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut.
